OUR WORK

2D Animation

2D Animation is creating an animated image by using two-dimensional drawing techniques. The images are then photographed frame-by-frame to create motion illusion-like motion pictures.

It has been around since the late 1800s. It gained popularity in the early 1900s when Max Fleischer created cartoons, including “Koko the Clown” and “Bouncing Ball” shorts.

Some of the most popular 2D-animated movies ever made include “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “Sleeping Beauty,” etc.

The process works by taking a flat illustration or drawing and sequencing it into an animation. The animator will start with the keyframes and fill in the in-between frames to create a sequence.

2D Animation understands how to illustrate movement and create believable characters. Animators need to draw to make the characters and their movements appear smooth and realistic.

It is a versatile medium used for animated movies, TV shows, video games, and online content.

Our 2D Animation Process

The process can be broken down into three main phases. First is the pre-production, second is production, and finally, post-production. Each phase is important in the creation of a successful animation

Pre-Production

Pre-production is all about preparation, and it's where we plan what we need to do to bring the animation from an idea in our head and put it up on the screen. During pre-production, our team will develop the storyboard and character designs. The second element to come out of pre-production is the character design. This can be simple or quite advanced, depending on the style and look of the animation.

Production

The next stage of 2D animation is production. This is where we start animating! Each scene in the animation will be broken down into a series of frames – individual images that make up the animation. Our team will then begin to animate each frame, one at a time. This process can be pretty time-consuming, but it's essential to ensure that the animation looks smooth and natural. Once all the frames are complete, we'll put them together to make the finished animation.

postproduction

Post-Production

Now that we have an animation, it's time to work on the final post-production touches. This is where we add sound effects, music, and other audio elements that will help to bring our animation to life. We'll also improve the animation's look and feel by adding effects like lighting, shadows, and particles. Once we apply the final touches, we'll complete a first draft of the animation. Our clients will review it, and as per their feedback, we will improve the video further.

Is 2D Animation Still Relevant?

It’s no secret that the animation industry is in a state of flux. With the rise of 3D animation and CGI, many believe that 2D animation is a dying art form. This leaves many newer animators wondering if they should focus on the more popular 3D or stick with 2D and learn both. But is it the case that 2D animation has fallen out of favor? Or is it not as popular as it once was?

The first thing to consider is that 2D animation isn’t going anywhere, at least not soon. 2D remains popular for a variety of reasons. It’s often more expressive and versatile than 3D animation, which can sometimes feel cold and sterile. Besides, hand-drawn animation can be produced much faster and more than its 3D counterpart.

And then there is the nostalgia factor. Many people love 2D animation, as it was the dominant form. To say that it is a thing of the past is a mistake, and it remains a popular form of animation today, and its future looks bright as well.

Modernization of 2d Animation

There has been a recent modernization of 2D animation that has brought the process into the digital age. This modernization has allowed for more flexibility and creativity in the animation process.

The first modernization of same was the invention of digital paint, which allowed artists to work with a mouse rather than a pencil. The second modernization was using computer programs instead of a pen on paper; this allowed for more precise drawing.

The third modernization of 2D animation was the invention of digital video. This allows animators to animate a sequence frame-by-frame in an Animation Controller program. The fourth modernization was the invention of the Animation Camera, and it enabled animators to animate a scene like the live-action camera. In 2D animation, the camera is fixed, and the animators have to move the characters around to get the desired shot.

The fifth modernization was the invention of digital ink and paint, which allowed the colors to be controlled. This eliminated the need to paint by hand and gave animators more control over the look of their animation.
